The season has started

During the winter Team VELUX has worked on the new boat, the X-37. They have been in Palma de Mallorca a few times to prepare for the first race which is part of the IMS Championships in Malaga on the 14th April.

René Villefrance, tactician, says:

"Since it is the first time for us as a team that we are facing racing in Spain it is absolutely necessary for us to be able to understand Spanish as well as possible.
One of the team has therefore taken Spanish lessons this winter so that we can understand sailing instructions better and understand the announcement we get on the VHF radio, which we must always have on board. This radio is used by the race management to get into contact with the crews - if the course has been changed - or if you have started too early the race management has a chance to call you back."

Team VELUX: We are ready!
The team work in Team VELUX has had high priority the last 6 months. René says: "We have trained in Palma all winter, partly to optimise the boat and partly to train the crew together. We were unfortunately not able to sail in the last race in autumn 2004 because the mast got damaged on our way from Denmark.
Now we are looking forward to the first race in Malaga - it is going to be very exciting.
We have high hopes of the coming season because we believe we have a boat that is fully capable of competing and we look forward to finally get started."

Team VELUX will participate in the first race 14-17 April in Malaga and later they will attend the Princess Sophia Cup on 29 April - 1 May 2005 in Palma, Mallorca.
