Team VELUX in the X-99 World Championship

The World Championship starts with tune-up races so that the crews can spend the first few days practising on the water and in the wind conditions. Everything takes place in accordance with normal racing rules.

Team VELUX is superstitious. They have won the tune-up before and then lost the World Championship. They therefore do their very best in the tune-up, but if they are about to win it, they sail the wrong way past the finishing point.

There are strict rules on how much a crew may weigh. The crews are weighed officially before the races start. In Team VELUX's case, they are weighed in their underpants, for the whole crew must not weigh more than 512 kg. and the six burly men have lived on bananas and yoghurt for the last few days. They are now down at the regulation weight.
