First regatta for X-37

”The course was one of nearly 50 miles around the Øresund. We made a superb start and got underway really well. Then we met a hole in the wind and when our competitors, who were behind us at that point, saw this, they sailed past us and got well ahead. But we managed to fight our way back into the regatta. We were first over the line among those boats we were racing against, but we were second when our handicap rating was taken into account”, explains René Villefrance.

Team VELUX had a new foredeck crewman; Gerrit Bottemöller is from Braunsweig, and was crewing as stand-in for Felix Weidling.

“All in all, it was a good weekend, we got to learn a lot about the boat and how to sail her.” As René Villefrance put it: “Team VELUX and the boat were highly commended by other sailors passing by, both on the water and in the harbour.”

Our X-99 took part in and won the Thiele Cup on Saturday with two firsts and a fifth place. The boat was on loan to another crew, who repaid this confidence by winning the regatta.
