| And Team VELUX won again! |
 |
Team VELUX has got off to a good start in their new boat. The won their run in the year’s last race, Mouton Cadet Cup 2004, on the Øresund.

They won both races on Saturday, when the racing was on windward/leeward courses (à la X-99 Danish Championship and World Championship courses). Sunday’s race was on an “obstacle” course, i.e. a course leading after the start into an area with many rounding marks and quite a short distance between the marks, which makes great demands on the crew.
“Things went really well for us this weekend,” says René Villefrance. “We were unfortunately a bit unlucky in that we found ourselves several times with quite big boats ahead of us, which we had caught up – the new VELUX boat is very fast. They simply took the wind from us and we lost time in the obstacle run, which was frustrating. But we are otherwise very satisfied with the boat so far.”
Among other boats, Team VELUX beat Buksersnedkeren. It was the new German foredecker Felix Weidling’s debut with Team VELUX.
Today, Monday, the boat is to be measured in Haderslev.
René Villefrance says, “We are to have the first flotation measurement to the IMS rule. It will be exciting to see how that goes. It is here that we shall become much wiser (we hope) with regard to the future time allowance the yacht must sail under in IMS. Several measurements must be taken to see whether the boat meets the requirements to the 670 class, including weight, width and stability. The stability is measured with the flotation measurement, which determines how high the boat lies in the water.”
